Sketchbook Games' 'Lost Words' wins UK Game of the Show Award at gamescom

Huge congratulations to the Sketchbook Games team for winning this year's UK Game of the Show Award at gamescom for Lost Words.

The UK Game of the Show Award is designed to shine a unique international spotlight on UK undiscovered development talent by awarding the best UK developed, but as yet unreleased game on show at gamescom. Previous winners include The Escapists 2, Blackwood Crossing, and Spilt Milk's Lazarus, who won this year at GDC, where Ukie ran the award for the first time.

Our anonymous judges did a great job of scouring the halls of gamescom secretly judging the qualifying games, so a big thanks to them (you know who you are!) and massive thanks also to Reality Games for sponsoring the Award and designing the trophy.

Mark Backler, Game Designer and Founder of Sketchbook Games, said: "The team and I are delighted to have received the award for UK Game of the Show. There was loads of great games there so we feel very lucky to have been chosen. We're currently looking for a publisher so to be awarded this in front of many different publishers was really great!"

"It was my first time at Gamescom and being on the Ukie stand was a fantastic experience - the whole team were so helpful and supportive and several people commented to me on how much they loved the creativity of the design of the stand (which was a traditional English pub!)"

The UK Game of the Show Award will return to GDC 2018 in March. There is no need to enter - all qualifying games (UK developed but unreleased) will be anonymously judged throughout the show.
