Ukie Student Conference London at London Games Festival

The Ukie Student Conference London 2019 sponsored by OPM Response was extremely well received by attendees and speakers. This is the first time the event has been held within the London Games Festival and it was incredible to build this conference into the overall LGF events plan with it being held at The Hub.

The event itself started with keynote speaker, Kim Parker the owner of OPM Response, giving a fabulously insightful talk "Job Hunting in Games – Get the Basics Right". Students find topics such as this to be invaluable as they try to understand what life will be like once they graduate and it allows them to prepare themselves to be able to compete in an ever competitive market. OPM Response also set up a CV and portfolio workshop at the conference which allowed students the opportunity to get advice from professionals.

There were two tracks of speakers throughout the day affording students the opportunity to pick which talks were more applicable to their learning. Students were also able to take full advantage of The Hub space which had an array of businesses set up within the expo area showcasing different content and games. Events like this allow for students to not only learn but also network with industry professionals.

Ukie would like to say an incredibly big thank you to the speakers, students and volunteers. We would also like to thank our partners OPM Response and Games London. Without you we could not have run this great event and we truly appreciate the support, time and effort placed into these conferences.

Talks that were recorded at the conferences will be uploaded to the UKIE Youtube channel in due course.

We now look to our next two conferences in October. If you would like the opportunity to help support these events through sponsorship, please contact Leon.
