About Ian Hamilton Design & Consultancy

Twelve year background in game accessibility, initially in gaming for preschool children with profound and multiple disabilities. Now working in the wider industry with developers, publishers, academia, platforms, middleware & industry bodies, to raise the profile and understanding of accessibility throughout the games industry, helping both gamers and developers benefit from everything that game accessibility has to offer.

What type of questions can I ask Ian?

Anything at all to do with accessibility for gamers with disabilities. For example how to tackle colourblindness for a specific mechanic, how to comply with CVAA accessibility legislation, how to work accessibility in to QA processes, how to prioritise and ensure accessibility doesn't slide down the backlog, what arguments to use when confronted with misconceptions from colleagues, examples of data on prevalence and usage, resources, examples of existing good practice, middleware and platform support/barriers, recruitment of and facilitation with disabled UR/playtesting participants, and so on.

From individual features to corporate strategy and how to meet & exceed regulations I can't promise to have all of the answers, but if there's anything at all that you want to know about avoiding unnecessary exclusion of disabled players get in touch and I'll help out to the best of my abilities.
