eSports has exploded across parts of Asia and the US, drawing huge crowds to live tournaments and attracting online viewers in the millions. The scene in the UK is also growing in popularity, with Britain's first dedicated eSports stadium announced in March this year and Insomnia54, the UK's biggest gaming festival, attracting over 30,000 people in April. At this rate, the UK is set to be a strong hub for eSports businesses, as well as its rapidly-expanding community of competitive gamers.
Ukie, the UK's trade body for video games, have put together an 'Introduction to eSports' event aimed at people in the games industry who are keen to find out more about what eSports is, and understand the key players behind the rise of eSports. Hear from the UK's leading companies in eSports about the growth in the UK, how to get your product ready for eSports, and how to grow your online community.
Speakers will include:
- David Yarnton, Gfinity: An overview of eSports
- Craig Fletcher, Multiplay: The UK’s growing eSports sector
- Sam Bennett, Dovetail: Commercialising your game for eSports
- James Neil, Ginx TV: Broadcasting eSports
There will also be a panel of eSports experts and providers, moderated by MCV's editor Chris Dring, with Michael 'ODEE' O'Dell from Team Dignitas, Michele Attasani from FACEIT, Glen Elliott from EGL and James Dean from ESL. The panel will be sharing their knowledge and insight into the growing industry as well as answering any burning questions.
This is a free morning event on the 11th of June at the Ukie office, from 10am - 12 midday. Please register via the eventbrite page, and contact Jenny if you have any questions.
