Equity’s Screen and New Media Committee, in conjunction with the D/deaf and Disabled Members Committee, are delighted to announce that we will be holding a ground-breaking video games event on 30 October at Graeae Theatre in East London aimed at Equity’s D/deaf and disabled performer members. The purpose of the event will be both to introduce our performer members to work opportunities within the games industry, but also to open the dialogue with the games industry about improving employment prospects for D/deaf and disabled performers, working on ways to enhance inclusivity throughout the game pipeline, from concept through to delivered game.
Following a morning of practical workshops for the union’s members, the afternoon will be opened up to the wider games industry, who will join the performers for talks and panel discussions. Confirmed panelists so far include Dr. Jo Twist, CEO of UKIE, Andy Walsh of the Writers Guild of Great Britain, and Jessica Jeffries, games casting director.
The afternoon event is free of charge and open to games industry professionals, especially those who might be able to help with performer employment opportunities. Space is limited, however, so tickets will be on a first come, first serve basis.
Tickets will be available through Eventbrite from the beginning of October 2019. For more details, and to register your interest, contact firstname.lastname@example.org with your name, job title and company name. We will send you the EventBrite link when tickets open.
