About the Event Series

By popular demand, the Pledge Pillar Roundtables are back for Spring 2022 to give:

  • Those involved in #RaiseTheGame the chance to connect with others within the pledge community and share knowledge amongst likeminded individuals.
  • Industry professionals whose organisations are not involved in the pledge or still on the fence whether to sign-up, a moment to get involved and see what the pledge is about.
  • Anyone else interested in Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) within the games industry that would like to be be part of the conversation.

Regardless your background, anyone who signs up to the roundtables is interested in the opportunity to discuss best practices, learn new perspectives and listen to advice around EDI matters from others within a safe virtual environment.

Check out our other roundtable sessions here!

About this Event

This roundtable session will focus on topics inspired by our third pledge pillar - Reflecting greater diversity in our work.

You may come into the session with questions like...

  • How can we incorporate EDI into our game development cycle and event plans?
  • What to consider before/during/after for production, marketing and other areas of consideration?
  • What can we do to ensure increased accessibility and authentic representation are present in games?
  • What kind of support exists to rollout and put in place within an organisation?

Likewise you may have suggestions on how to tackle such matters that you would like to share. Which is why we facilitate these sessions as roundtables to open up discussion to everyone in attendance, which in turn allows people to share their experiences and best practice tips & tricks around embedding and reflecting greater diversity in our work!

We're happy to announce as well, we will be joined by Making The Leap who will help chair the session and share perspective around how to consider diversity and social mobility into our work; may it be outreach, marketing or in the games we develop!

This roundtable session will be virtual, taking place through Zoom with closed captions on.

All registered attendees will be sent a link in advance of each event.

Please note: The roundtables will not be recorded yet there might be content produced as follow-up to each session. Any post event content produced will apply ‘The Chatham House rule' where nothing will be attributable to anybody to protect everyone’s privacy.

More about #RaiseTheGame

The #RaiseTheGame pledge is a holistic driven initiative managed and facilitated by Ukie aimed at helping the overall UK games industry grow and improve in all areas of equality, diversity and inclusivity (EDI). From guidance and practical advice to engagement activities like events both online and in-person, the pledge is a call to action to rally the sector together and become lead examples of inclusion to other industries.

Though the pledge is managed by Ukie, any games industry company can apply to sign-up and be involved in activities surrounding the pledge, all that is asked is a strong commitment to make a positive impact, the time to listen and consider along with the effort to implement such change. Even if you’re at the start of your journey or think your company too small to make a difference - all companies no matter their size or where they are in their equality, diversity & inclusion journey are welcome.

More about Making The Leap

Making The Leap is an innovative grassroots social justice charity that aims to make a big difference. From direct delivery, to advocacy and thought leadership, we refuse to stay in our lane and believe passionately that those we exist to serve have the right to be anything they want to be.

Our mission is to transform the futures of disadvantaged young people in the UK by providing training to raise their aspirations and develop their skills, confidence and outlook to enable them to succeed in a career. We work directly with young people in London, and we use what we learn in our delivery to raise awareness of the importance of social mobility among UK businesses and organisations, and encourage them to take action to improve it.
