Ukie Student Game Jam Mentors – We need you!

Ukie Student Game Jam Mentors – we need you!

The Ukie Student Game Jam is returning for its forth year on May 17-19 2017. The Game Jam will see teams from Ukie Student institutes competing against each other to create the best game in 48 hours and win the coveted Ukie Student Game Jam trophy and other fabulous prizes.

We are looking for a games industry mentor for each student team.  Mentors are there to support the team, talk through and develop their ideas, answer questions, and give tips and advice. This is a great opportunity to meet, inspire and work with the next generation of games talent and participate in the biggest Ukie Student Game Jam ever.

If you volunteer to become a mentor you won’t be expected to help for the entire duration of the game jam, although you must be available for the first few hours after the theme is announced on Wednesday morning. Mentoring can either be done onsite or remotely, via skype, phone and email etc., depending on your availability. If you’d prefer a more hands on approach, and want to visit your team, we can pair you with your closest institute and cover your travel expenses.

All participating teams will be confirmed by May 5, so you will be paired with your Ukie Student institute after this date. We will introduce you to the course leader in advance, who will allocate you to your team and provide contact details.

All mentors will be in the running for the ‘Mentor of the Universe’ trophy, which will be decided by the students. We will ask each team a series of questions after the game jam, rating their mentor from 1-10 on a variety of areas, and gathering additional feedback. The Game Jam will be judged by a separate panel of industry judges, who will decide the winning game and award the ‘Game Jam Trophy’.
