They carry out assessments to see how a person’s disability is holding them back & find technology that can help them achieve their goals. Over the past 5 years they have also provided gaming sessions for disabled children at their very own Technology & Gaming centre in Manchester.

Gamer Network

Gamer Network was founded in 1999 by brothers Rupert and Nick Loman.

Prior to founding the company, the brothers played a lot of network and online games like Duke Nukem 3D and Quake II, and their love for competitive multiplayer video games led them to organise their own events.

After realising they were better at organising than competing, they decided to create an online games business together with friends from the gaming community. Several years after that (paying the bills by designing websites and game middleware) they decided to focus purely on games media.

GamesAid

GamesAid is a UK based video games charity (Registered UK Charity  # 1081706) which acts as an umbrella to support a number of smaller charities who help disadvantaged and disabled children and young people.

It is a non-trading body, administered by Trustees who operate on a fixed term basis run by a chairman who is also appointed on a fixed term. As the only fully democratic charity in the games space, members of the games industry propose and vote for the charities of their choice annually.

Raspberry Pi Foundation

The idea behind a tiny and affordable computer for kids came in 2006, when Eben Upton, Rob Mullins, Jack Lang and Alan Mycroft, based at the University of Cambridge’s Computer Laboratory, became concerned about the year-on-year decline in the numbers and skills levels of the A Level students applying to read Computer Science. From a situation in the 1990s where most of the kids applying were coming to interview as experienced hobbyist programmers, the landscape in the 2000s was very different; a typical applicant might only have done a little web design.

We’re a core team of talented engineers and designers with over 35 years of combined experience in the web and mobile space.

We were tired of how expensive and cumbersome it was to get up to date and accurate information about apps and the app market so we decided to create a better service ourselves.
