Ukie’s CEO elected as Chair of BAFTA Games Committee

We’re really proud that our CEO Dr Jo Twist OBE, has been appointed as the new Chair of BAFTA’s Games Committee. She succeeds Nick Button-Brown, Interim COO at Sensible Object, who held the post for a two-year term and did an excellent job doing so.

Speaking on her appointment, Jo said she was “delighted” to be new Chair of the Games Committee and was determined to ensure BAFTA had a bright future in games, especially with its new Game Beyond Entertainment award category. Most importantly she highlighted that the industry is at a “critical inflection point”, and its future growth and innovation will hinge on creative collaboration aligned with true diversity and opportunity for everyone.

Before taking the helm as BAFTA Chair, Jo has been a very active member of the BAFTA Games Committee and supported initiatives such as the BAFTA Breakthrough Brits and BAFTA Young Game Designers new talent initiatives. She was also a part of BAFTA’S taskforce examining sexual harassment and bullying in the film, games and television industries.

Twist’s appointment as BAFTA Chair will complement the work that Ukie does to make the UK the best place in the world to make, play and sell games.
