Location: We offer a mixture of remote and in the office working at Black Bull Yard, 24-28 Hatton Wall, London, EC1N 8JH. This role includes regular office-based team and member related activities and national travel. 

Reports to: Head of Education 

Pay: London Living Wage with travel expenses 

Contract Period: 9 month internship (October 2022 – July 2023) 

This role is focussed on supporting future industry talent through our education initiative Digital Schoolhouse. Ukie Education endeavours to support the next generation of industry talent from 5 – 21+ years and beyond. Under the Ukie Education umbrella sit our flagship education initiatives, Digital Schoolhouse and Student Membership alongside the Video Games Ambassadors Scheme and supporting family friendly video games through Ask About Games. Working together we aim to enable anyone with a passion for video games to flourish. We promote a fun and playful approach to education, with creativity and innovation sitting at the heart of what we do. The education team at Ukie sits across disciplines, supports our members, and works with a broad range of partners and stakeholders. 

Ukie’s Digital Schoolhouse together with Nintendo UK, uses play-based learning to engage the next generation of pupils and teachers with the Computing curriculum. Digital Schoolhouse is delivered by the UK games industry trade body Ukie and is backed by the video games industry and government. Sponsors include PlayStation®, Electronic Arts, SEGA, Ubisoft and Outright Games. Our pioneering esports tournaments are the first and largest formal school-based esports tournaments in the UK. Since its inception in 2014 the programme has supported over 170,000 pupils and now operates out of 76 Schoolhouses in the UK and a further 10 schools in Nigeria.

Main Duties

• Work with the Digital Schoolhouse team to deliver Digital Schoolhouse events, including our esports tournaments, teacher training days and other events as appropriate.

• Support the wider Ukie team with event administration and logistics as and when required

• Work with the Digital Schoolhouse team to coordinate and deliver participant communications for events

• Prepare supporting event resources

• Provide ongoing support for participating schools and be a point of contact and support for event participants

• Secure in-kind support for events

• Assisting with event-day delivery to ensure everything goes to plan

• Providing concepts and ideas, coming up with suggestions to enhance the event’s success

Other information

• Monday to Friday - 09.00 to 17.30

• Expectation that some evening and weekend work may be required to attend events as the business requires

• Ukie supports remote working, but there is an expectation of regular visits to the office
