Learn how your studio can help combat the climate crisis in this series of talks by sustainability champions from across the games industry.
Are you a game studio or publisher who wants to do more for the environment through their work? You've come to the right place. The games industry has a unique part to play in the fight against the climate crisis, and there's already a treasure trove of resources and opportunities out there for you to get involved.
Hosted by Playing for the Planet and Ukie, this workshop is packed with tips, tricks, and resources to help you level up your environmental impact in the games industry, with support for reducing your own emissions output while creating games that can spark players into taking action on the climate crisis.
The workshop will feature talks from three different speakers, alongside opportunity for Q&A at the end of each session:
How you can start Playing for the Planet - Facilitated by UNEP, Playing for the Planet is an Alliance of games industry organisations working together to strengthen gaming's impact on the environment. Project Manager Alex Avard will introduce the work of the Alliance and share more about how you can get involved through membership and other collaboration opportunities.
Greening Game Code with the Xbox Sustainability Toolkit - Xbox Gaming Sustainability Manager Dan Jacobs will join us to share how your studio can adopt easy-to-implement energy-efficient game development practices without sacrificing gameplay quality with Xbox's industry-leading Sustainability Toolkit, a free resource for anyone publishing their titles on Xbox platforms.
Leading Space Ape's journey to sustainable game development - Nic Walker is the former COO of Playing for the Planet member Space Ape Games, and has been involved with Playing for the Planet since its origins in 2019. Here, he shares his experience for studios looking to begin their sustainability journey, and explores how the games industry can continue to step up as a leading force for good in the climate crisis.
