The Government has published its response to the call for evidence into loot boxes, which concluded in November 2020.
Ukie submitted a response to the call for evidence, providing information on industry self-regulatory measures in regards to loot boxes, demonstrated the effectiveness of information campaigns such as our Get Smart About PLAY initiative and committed to working in a constructive manner with relevant Government bodies, regulators and organisations.
Responding to the call for evidence, Dr Jo Twist OBE - CEO of Ukie - said:
“As a responsible industry, we have committed to exploring additional ways to support players and parents to build on our existing work developing and raising awareness of parental controls.
“We look forward to engaging closely with
the Government and other organisations in the working group and on the Video
Games Research Framework.”
For more information about managing safe and sensible play, we recommend parents head to askaboutgames.
