The Trade Association Forum has recognised Ukie's stand at gamescom 2022, our biggest ever, in the shortlist for its Events category.
The stand hosted 79 exhibitors from the UK games industry across 1000 square meters, who generated millions in business wins across three days. It also housed spaces for attendees to play new UK made games and a dedicated podcast studio for recording episodes themed around our Playable Futures content series for trade outlet Games Industry Biz.
Companies across the stand received significant media coverage, including trade press coverage for this year’s Game of the Show winner and pieces from the stand such as Evercade’s coverage for its new retro handheld on IGN.
Meanwhile our efforts to make our stand sustainable through travel by train, reusable materials and promotion of decarbonised working practices received an accolade from the United Nations, awarded the gamescom goes green award for the most environmentally conscious stand at the event.
Finally, the event was a success for the Ukie team itself. The staff were praised for their role in assembling, maintaining and supporting businesses on the stand, with the quality of service rated at 4.8 out of 5 by attendees. The event also delivered an important commercial return for the organisation, delivering nearly £90,000 in additional contribution to the trade association’s budget to support its wider trade activities.
An anonymous exhibitor on the stand said "‘As always Ukie delivers a great presence for UK companies and meaningfully facilitates doing business, with a well-organised event which removes the hassle from navigating an overseas trade event.’"
TAF's judging panel will meet in the new year to discuss the shortlist, which includes the British Security Industry Association, the National hair & Beauty Federation, the Lift and Escalator Industry Association and the Self Storage Association UK. The winner, meanwhile will be revealed at the awards ceremony in February.
