Ukie launches UK games industry economic impact survey

The most recent Screen Business Report was launched in December 2021. To access the report, click here.

As part of our work to support and champion the Video Game Tax Relief, Ukie is working in partnership with the BFI on the forthcoming report 'Screen Business 2021', measuring the economic impact of the VGTR and wider UK games industry.

To do so, we are gathering essential economic data about our sector to ensure we can base our arguments on robust evidence.

We are asking games businesses of all shapes and sizes, as well as those companies working in the wider games ecosystem, to provide us with accurate information about the number of people they employ and any recent investments or notable financial deals, from 2017 to present.

This information will be aggregated together to form key measures about the UK games industry in Screen Business, as well as in more local analysis such as our own ‘Think Global, Create Local’. Given that these reports are used by HM Treasury to evaluate the VGTR, ensuring this data is as accurate as possible is critical in maintaining this essential resource for our sector.

Whether you employ two people or two thousand, please take a few minutes to complete the two questions in the below survey and help us showcase the incredible strength of the UK games industry.  The survey closes on 15th January 2021.

Please take the survey here.

Please note: this data will be held by Ukie and shared under NDA with the BFI project team for use in this project only. This research will report aggregated industry figures only and no information about any individual company will be disclosed.

A summarised version of the key games findings of the previous Screen Business report can be found on Ukiepedia.
